Lisa Harris who is also a multidisciplinary artist discussed her practice, some of her past performances, and how she synthesizes her experience into her work. She held the talk as a discussion to interact with the audience rather than an authoritarian in the mix. She delved into hymns, philosophical conversations from Michael Foucault, the relational nature of her performances with audience and time and how they intersect.
Autumn Knight a multidisciplinary artist performed a powerfully arresting performance titled “The Wall” at the CAMH with the assistance of Natasha Turner and a group of women who were focused and demonstrated this focus through introspection. The performance referenced both The Western Wall of Jerusalem, which is a remnant of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and the Galveston Wall in Galveston, Texas. Knight created this work at The Galveston Arts Residency.
Here are some photographs from both.
