Nicole Longnecker Gallery announces the exhibition; “Somewhere South” featuring work by Columbus, Georgia artist Najee Dorsey. The exhibit will feature Dorsey’s large scale mixed media works along with some of his unique digital compositions.
Dorsey works in mixed media collage and digital media. His collage images are of little known and unsung historical figures, as well as nostalgic scenes from African American life in the southern United States. In his work, as Najee chronicles moments in Black life throughout history, he maintains that, “stories untold are stories forgotten”.
Dorsey is also the founder of Black Art In America (BAIA). BAIA is a free online media platform for African American artists, collectors, art enthusiasts, and arts professionals.
The exhibition runs from June 30 to August 31, 2018. There will be an artists’ reception on Saturday, June 30, from 5-8pm.
