Not That But This was founded by Dark Imaginarence practitoner Nathaniel Donnett with contributions from artist friends; M’Kina Tapscott, Autumn Knight, Jamal Cyrus, Kenya Evans, and Robert A. Pruitt.
Not That But This is a Houston-based webzine blog created out of necessity, by artists, writers, and various creatives, that seeks to showcase and celebrate contemporary art and culture created by people of color throughout the African diaspora.
Not That But This strives to be an expressive, critical, and experimental platform for the investigation, interpretation and free-form exploration of the contemporary art world, as well as the everyday aspects of modern life.
Not That But This provides a crazy, rigorous, outlandish, and dope collection of thought provoking positions on the arts and culture. NTBT asks the question where does art and culture intersect? What are interesting ways to present these and their ideas ? Who and what produces them?
In 2014 Not That But This art and culture blogzine was awarded an Idea Fund grant, a re-granting program administered by a partnership of DiverseWorks, Aurora Picture Show, and Project Row Houses and funded by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
Not That But This is a sponsored project of Fresh Arts, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the purpose of Not That But This must be made payable to Fresh Arts and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
